Local Qualifying Show Information
Local Qualifying Show Information & Application
The National Pole Bending Association is accepting applications from individuals or associations to sponsor local qualifying shows in the United States for the April 16, 2007 - March 15, 2008 qualifying period. By attending two local qualifying shows an exhibitor who is an NPBA member will qualify to attend the 2008 NPBA National Championship show.
In order to receive approval from NPBA for a local qualifying show for the qualifying year 2007-2008, a sponsor needs to apply to NPBA two months prior to the local qualifying show is proposed to be held (unless your Regional Director approves a shorter application period). To be approved by an NPBA Regional Director, a local qualifying show proposal must meet the following requirements:
1. The sponsor must agree to abide by the rules of NPBA (see below)
2. A local qualifying show must include an open 3D pole bending. NPBA recommends but does not require that you include a youth (18 and under) 3D pole bending. A local qualifying show may include other classes (barrels etc), including pole bending classes restricted in other ways (by breed, other age classifications etc), but such classes will not be NPBA approved.
3. Prior to January 1, 2008, exhibitors running in the NPBA local qualifying show classes are not required to have a current NPBA membership but NPBA membership will be required for each exhibitor prior to attending the 2008 National Championship Show. Starting January 1, 2008 exhibitors running in the NPBA local qualifying show classes are not required to have a current NPBA membership but NPBA membership will be required if an exhibitor wants the show to count as one of his or her two qualifying shows. This change was required because we need membership information (address etc) in order to send entry information for the National Championship Show.
4. The sponsor will pay $2 per entry in NPBA approved classes to NPBA.
5. The sponsor must pay out all guaranteed added money and at least 70% of the entry fees using the NPBA 3D payout formula with one second splits.
6. No local qualifying show will be approved by a Regional Director, without Board of Director approval, on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday if there is already a local qualified show approved on the same weekend in the same state within 100 miles or an approved Regional Qualifying Show in the same or adjoining state on the same weekend.
If approved as a local qualifying show, you will be required to supply the local qualifying show results (horse name, exhibitor name and address, times and payouts by go round, average etc) to your Regional Director within 15 days of the end of the show and the $2 per entry in NPBA approved classes to the NPBA main office within 15 days of the end of the show. In addition, all advertising, flyers, entry forms etc and your website (if any) will be required to include the following “Approved by the National Pole Bending Association- WWW.POLEBENDING.ORG".
The form of local qualifying show application is available at the link below or here. If you have any questions on the application or the local qualifying show program you can contact your Regional Director.
