NATIONAL POLE BENDING ASSOCIATION APPROVES ADDED MONEY GRANT PROGRAM FOR POLE BENDING FUTURITIES

The National Pole Bending Association has announced the creation of a grant program to associations sponsoring pole bending futurities in the United States in 2006.

NPBA will award grants of up to $500 to match the added money a sponsoring association guarantees in its pole bending futurity. In order to receive a grant from NPBA for a pole bending futurity in 2006, a sponsoring association needs to apply to NPBA by November 30, 2005.

For purposes of the NPBA added money grant program, a pole bending futurity must meet the following requirements:

1. The sponsoring association must be putting on a pole bending futurity using the pole bending pattern commonly referred to as “Washington Poles”. This pole bending pattern is more particularly described in the American Quarter Horse Association Handbook.

2. The futurity must be limited to horses 5 years and younger. A sponsoring organization may have other restrictions such as restrictions on a horse being competed on prior to a certain date, entries being limited to a certain breed, etc.

3. There are no restrictions on the payout system used by the sponsoring organization For example, a sponsoring organization may use a traditional futurity payout system or a 2D, 3D or 4D payout system.

If an organization is awarded a grant, it will be required to supply the futurity results to NPBA. NPBA will begin keeping track of pole bending horse futurity earnings starting in 2006.
